Winner of Annandale Nostalgia

Winner of Annandale Nostalgia signed by Hempies du Toit

At our recent Festive Wine Tasting event we had a special magnum bottle of Annandale Nostalgia to win for anyone ordering wine on the day.

We are very pleased to announce that Tim Killen was the lucky man!

The wine is made by Hempies du Toit as a special release in honour of his dad and Maria Malan who started the wine farm Alto. It was a blend that Marie exported to the UK in 1921 to a company called Burgoyne. It was shipped in 225 litre barrels from Cape Town docks. Marie, who was also an agent for Burgoyne wines, sourced wine from Annandale to be blended with Alto. This export stopped in 1959. The blend was 2/3 Cinsault with the balance split equally between Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nostalgia is the very same blend made up of 2003 Cinsault, 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2005 Shiraz and was specially signed by Hempies for Cape Wine & Foods.
