Tempranillo is a little known variety to South African vineyards but one that is fast enjoying an enhanced reputation in the Paarl region. Savoury in character, this wine was matured in French oak barriques for 18 months, with the nose giving a cigar box aroma leading to marinated cherry and autumn blackberry on the palate. With the smaller proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon giving a balancing backbone of tannin and structure, it is expected this wine will continue to develop for several years to come.
The flagship wine of Annexkloof. This soft, elegant Malbec has typlical flavours of black plum and mulberry. Fine well structured tannins and complexity of fruit on the palate. Aged for 2 years in second and third fill oak barrels. Serve with duck, chicken, lamb and creamy fish.
Shiraz/Mouvedre/Grenache A well-balanced and complex blend. Named after winemaker's father, Toeloe Basson. A strong, full bodied character leading the way. Aged for 14 months in French oak.
A spicy full bodied red wine, with white pepper undertones. Slight French oak gives this wine a soft tannin structure with smooth mouth feel. Combining dark berry fruit with spicy richness makes this wine a drinking pleasure. Able to age for five years.
