Beyond the periphery of South Africa's conventional vineyard region lie great vinous treasures, resigned to anonymity; forgotten, abandoned or just simply undiscovered. It is, the mission of Rick, our intrepid Cape Crusader, to seek and liberate these rare wines, consigning them to to the table of the most inquisitive and discerning imbiber.
Powerful berry fruit aromas give way to cigar boxes and dark chocolate followed by vanilla and oak spices. Full-bodied with appealing blackberry flavours followed by tobacco, chocolate toast and vanilla. A good tannic structure adds complexity and long maturation potential.
The flagship wine of Annexkloof. This soft, elegant Malbec has typlical flavours of black plum and mulberry. Fine well structured tannins and complexity of fruit on the palate. Aged for 2 years in second and third fill oak barrels. Serve with duck, chicken, lamb and creamy fish.
Shiraz/Mouvedre/Grenache A well-balanced and complex blend. Named after winemaker's father, Toeloe Basson. A strong, full bodied character leading the way. Aged for 14 months in French oak.
